The app was created using the Flutter framework. Because of this we could use a single codebase for Android and iOS. It uses background services to register dance-steps. The app is multi-lingual and multi-region. The backend uses a NoSQL database combined with a serverless infrastructure to make certain that it could register the dancesteps of thousands of users at the same time. Next to the app, the project included a CMS for data entry and a data control system for managing a party during the event. This was used to analyze the usage and give out rewards to the certain user groups. On festivals there was also a wristband that would change colours to increase the party vibe, and if the user got a reward, it would change to a static colour, so you, for example, could go backstage with a green wristband.
The reward system was pretty advanced. There was an option to let the bar swipe to redeem a reward, or give out vouchers with qr codes or barcodes. The type of reward redeeming was flexible to make it possible to use on every location. The app / campaign was used on a large amound of festivals in the 2022 season and will get a continuation in the 2023 season. So if you’re on a location where a Rave to Save event is active; use it and get some free drinks :)
